SAINT OBJECTS

De-identity, Faceless, Fringe

The story begins with personal experience. I have been keeping moving since

elementary school. In the past ten years, I Have lived in more than four cities, which makes it hard to find a sense of belonging anywhere.

As an Asian living in a Western society, it makes chasing even harder, when I actively want to integrate into the cities I've been to, even though I just want to be a normal guy on the street, I will still experience some discrimination, either overt or covert. These experiences made me doubt myself when I Was a naive child, having negative emotions about my culture, even made me want to disappear into the crowd.

These stories combined to become the collection. It's more like a record, to record a young emotion, to record the past self, and to record some experience shared by a generation of travelers from the East.

TWISTED OBJECTS:

Instead of considering how to make new design products sustainable, upgrading existing designs by extending their lifetime is better. In this way, we can reduce unnecessary waste.

Bringing these “old ” objects with a different and evolutionary look is what I’m interested in.

Practice comes first.

I transform these well-known products, especially eyewear to the greatest extent by twisting them into an impossible angle, destroying, and deforming them, making them look broken, but still retaining their original functions of the items. After those Impossible changes which will give these designs a whole evolutionary but still practical form, this is an upgrade I want to achieve in this collection.

DUPLICATED OBJECTS

Asian religions, especially Buddhism, inspire the Accessory collection.

One of the key elements is the circle lock which is common to see in Sharjah worn by monks, it is for fixing sleeveless clothes.

I Replaced the normal buckle to the same position and deconstructed and reconstructed it to create a new form of buckle.

The deconstruction method is inspired by two extremes that are minimalism and maximalism, the results show two directions:

1: The increase in the number of buckles produces a new object which brings a new way of using the buckle.

2: The buckle maintains its original function but has a completely different shape or direc- tion.
